Why plant blueberries in autumn?
WHY DO WE PLANT BLUEBERRY IN AUTUMN?
The answer is simple-because more in tune with Nature.
And why? I already answer;
- Blueberries (but not only) are coming to the end of their vegetation period, but their roots are still growing and the mycorrhizal mycelium, having fed the plants with sunshine, uses assimilates and grows well.
- Warm soil and cold air create an inverted temperature situation (inversion) which gives a strong stimulus to root growth.
- The plant resumes root formation in early spring, before bud development, and the mycorrhizal mycelium is already starting to develop, making growth much more dynamic and the effects visible in yield.
And that is the all-but-important secret to success from the “Old Gardener”.
